Wray Fair - Tug of War

Carnforth RUFC 2-0 George and Dragon
Carnforth put on a brave display in the searing summer sun, well as hot as it can get in Lancashire. These well trained athletes had been training the whole season for this one moment of glory, (this was reflected in the final North Lancs. 2 standing), nothing else had mattered all season.
Carnforth's Tug of War A-Team was made up of Anchor Man - Mark Moorfoot, Steve Collins, Dave Robinson, Peter Sowerby, Shane Rich, Martin, Steve, They weighed just short of a tonne between them.
Carnforth opted to pull downhill for the 1st leg, this turned out to be the winning choice as Carnforth pulled their opponents down the slope with ease.
Both Teams swapped ends for the second leg, this proved more difficult, but with the A-team still pumped up from the first leg it was only a matter of minutes before victory was theirs
The rematch will be played at the fair next year, and with the high profile press coverage it should attract more teams and prove a challenge for Carnforth A-Team to retain their crown.

500 up Shane Rich sets new Record

1st XV captain Shane Rich played in his 500th first team game on Sunday 14th October, in a 5-0 defeat by Bay Horse. Over the years he has played in many positions in the forwards and has even appeared in the backs on the odd occasion. He has led the first team for four years and is the first player in the history of Carnforth Rugby club to achieve the 500 first team appearance mark.
